Confusion in country comparisons

Tuesday, September 16, 2014 - 10:29

Life get confusing. Scotland has a referendum and say it wants to pull out of the UK. Ukraine has a referendum and the Russian speakers want to pull out. The rest of the Ukrainian people don't want the Russian speakers to pull out and they fight. The world puts sanctions of Russia. If Scotland wants to break free but England does not like it, will England fight? Who will place sanctions? Confusing.

Obviously this is not an exact comparison but as a strategy consultant standing back without emotion and without having to react to what the voters or talk back jocks want, you have to understand how people react when artificial boundaries cut up ethnic groups. The Russian speaking Ukranians were never happy with the demise of the USSR and Scotland has always seen itself as a separate entity. Then of course the Ukranian millitants accidently shooting down that passanger jet with Russian weapons puts in the emotive factor even though no rebel would have wanted that disaster to jeapodise their cause. But as with 911, a response is required for political purposes and it works at home. Lets hope England and Scotland don't start fighting...
