BECOMING PRESIDENT IS THE EASY PART

Friday, January 20, 2017 - 20:38

How do you make a country great again. History says build an army. When you have an army, what do you do with it?

Hoping always that you are wrong, even after predicting Trump’s presidency long before he was even considered a contended, the catch phrase was never the less “Be afraid”.

With hours before being sworn in as next American President, the most important issue remains in the relationship with China. The bottom line is that no democracy can compete in lives against a totalitarian regime. When Americans started dying in Vietnam, parents began complaining to their congressmen. No one wrote to anyone in Vietnam about locals obliterated. Trump’s ego, remembering he is playing to a domestic audience, needs to be appeased so that at some time or another he will have to face a confrontation with China and there is no way they will back down. So what does he do?

Translate this into business currency and you do a deal. In this case, it is people dying and not money on the table. Again, he can’t trade American for Chinese lives since there are far more Chinese. He doesn’t have much more left to bargain with. Except of course saying China can have the South China Sea and we do some big deal somewhere else to throw the dead cat on the table. But will his ego allow that?

So while machines might be replacing all the jobs Trump talks about bringing back to America, you don’t have a problem when you increase your military. Watch this space….
